History

Few builders in America have received more industry recognition than David Weekley Homes. Since our beginning in 1976, we've won hundreds of awards for excellence in homebuilding, including over 350 for home design alone.

We're the first homebuilder in history to attain the three most coveted awards in our industry:

  • America's Best Builder
  • National Builder of the Year (twice)
  • National Housing Quality Award

We were also featured on NBC's Today Show: Today Builds A House. Beginning on February 12, 2001, for twelve weeks, viewers of the NBC Today Show voted on their choice of floorplans and then the options that went into a David Weekley home in Tampa, Florida. At the end of the series, the home was auctioned off with proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity.

And the recognition has come from outside the homebuilding industry, as well. David Weekley Homes was featured in:

  • FORTUNE® magazine's video seminar entitled, “Customer Driven Quality”
  • Tom Peters cited us in his newsletter, “On Achieving Excellence”
  • FORTUNE® magazine named David Weekley Homes as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” seven times
  • Training magazine's Top 100 list ranked David Weekley Homes number 26 in training among various companies in the country in 2007

While it is an honor to be recognized by our peers and business leaders throughout the country, Customer Satisfaction will always be the yardstick by which we measure our true success. We ranked Highest in Customer Satisfaction with New Home Builders from J.D. Powers and Associates in several cities including:

  • Dallas/Ft. Worth in 2000
  • Tampa in 2002
  • Austin in 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008
  • Orlando in 2008
  • Indianapolis in 2012
  • Phoenix in 2012
